Rusty Heron Studio 794 Highland Highway Ave Ortonville, MN 56278 320.839.7084 deblarson@ymail.com Insightful nature, figurative narrative paintings. Exhibiting at Java Jules Bistro & Cafe: Directions:221 2nd St NW, Ortonville 320.487.1111 Downtown Ortonville across the street from Sherman Studio. Artist Biography: Rusty Heron Studio is in my home in Ortonville. I am originally from NY and started out studying art at the University of Bridgeport in CT. Since then, I have lived in VA, FL, & IA before settling in MN the last seven years with my husband, Aaron and two teenage boys, Schuyler and Alec. Fulfilling Milan Village Arts School experiences compelled me to further explore drawing, painting, printing and sculpture at U of M, Morris. I have since taken other painting and collage classes through the U of M Split Rock Program. My work evolves with each painting as I stretch beyond what I learn in the classroom. I have been like a kid in a candy-store..which medium should I work with next? This past year, I depicted nature’s energy by pushing local colors to a more vivid, saturated state with oils and acrylics. More recently, I forayed into the world of fiber arts, adding unexpected texture to my painting with loosely woven cloth or combining painted fabric, pattern and texture with hand and machine stitching. Currently, I am exploring figurative compositions as a vehicle for dialogue between color, shape and line. I have had work in several group shows and am available for portrait commissions. I also teach assorted arts classes, figure drawing and paper-making, through our community education program. I look forward to sharing the results of my creative journey with you! |
