Artist Biography: Jill Blom grew up on a farm south of Milan, attended Milan High School and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, with a Bachelors degree in art education in 1987. She married husband, Robert, later that year, which brought her home again to live and farm in the Milan community. Jill taught elementary art in the Milan Elementary School from 1991 – 1993, and since then, she has stayed home to raise their three children, now 20, 19 and 16, help on the farm and pursue her love of art. Much of her time these days is spent painting watercolors for commission or for sale during the Meander. She also works in most other art media and her work can be viewed and purchased at Billy Maple Trees gift shop in down town Milan or by contacting her directly. Jill has been involved in several community art projects, including the coordinating, teaching and supervising of large mural projects located on Milan’s Main Street, in the old school building, and in Kviteseid Church Sunday School room. She has also been involved with the Milan Village Art School from its beginning in 1988 and has taught many art school, community education and group classes and individual art lessons in the area. Jill also did a watercolor artis residency at Bert Rainey Elementary School in Granite Falls in 2009, teaching watercolor to K – 1 and 6th grade students there.
