Victoria (Torri) Hanna graduated from Canby High School in 1978 then continued her education at SSU in Marshall MN. She graduated from college in 1983 with a BA in Fine Art and a concentration in Fibers. It was at Southwest State University that she developed her love of weaving and the fiber arts. She has continued working with looms through the years and spent several years teaching weaving, spinning and knitting at Lambspun of Colorado in Fort Collins, CO. She returned to Minnesota in 2000 and opened Briar Rose Fibers in downtown Canby. There she teaches classes and provides books, materials and equipment for weaving, knitting and spinning. Torri has a weaving studio in her home where she keeps her looms busy with a variety of projects. She sells her textile (hand woven) work at MAFAC in Marshall, Crow River Arts Center in Hutchinson, MN and Rose Weaving Gallery in Arvada, CO as well as at Briar Rose Fibers and on her web site at www.briarrosefibers.com. She also creates many custom orders for hand knit and hand woven items and is a production contract weaver for Custom Woven Interiors in Minneapolis, MN, custom weaving rep-weave table runners and place mats in the Arts & Crafts style. She also participates annually in the North Country Fiber Fair in Watertown and sells yarn, books, equipment and finished items from her booth. Briar Rose Fibers studio was a stop in the 2005 & 2006 Art Meander and Torri will be showing in the 2007 Meander October 5th, 6th and 7th at the Milan Village Arts School “Loom room” in Milan, MN. She was selected to be a featured artist in the PBS series “Rural Living : The Artists” shown September of 2005.
