Artist Biography:
Kevin Lohse & J Berndt
Both my husband, Kevin Lohse, and myself, J. Berndt, are full time working artists. We have been showing our work nationwide for over 20 years and have received numerous awards. We are both proud to have our work in many corporate and international collections.

Kevin Lohse
I have been working with wood for more than 20 years. In recent years, I have discovered other materials, such as aluminum, corian, and found metal objects, which I now incorporate into my pieces, with the wood. My contemporary sculptures are geometric compositions, that play with the various wood colors contrasting with the other materials.

J Berndt
I am a clay artist and have been working with clay for over 23 years. All of my pieces are Raku fired. I love texture, so while the pieces are leatherhard, I make holes to incorporate reed by either weaving it into the surface, or opening, or stitching it onto the surface to create irregular patterns, or handles, of dark black against the dull black surface. Handmade beads, copper wire, and gold leaf are also some of the things I use to create a bit more texture.

My latest work is large wall pieces. I create free-flowing shapes, each piece having it’s own textural composition, which fit and work together to form the whole piece.

I grew up in Big Stone City, South Dakota, graduated from Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN and now reside in rural Minnesota, near Dawson.
