Cheryl has been interested in creating art since a young child growing up in Upper Michigan but a career in law and raising a family kept her from pursuing her creative talents. Since 1989, she has returned to pursue her artistic talents.
Numerous workshops with nationally known artists, including Albert Handell, have provided a strong underpinning for her art education. Her extensive ongoing study since 2009 with Joe Paquet and further education at the Art Academy in St. Paul have focused upon the prismatic palette and time honored oil painting techniques.
Her artistic efforts have produced recognition for her paintings with artwork regularly juried into national exhibits, awards at outdoor painting competitions, award of the Master Circle designation by the International Association of Pastel Societies, and a televised feature special on “MN Original.”
Cheryl’s future goals are to continue to master the oil painting medium, regularly exhibit nationally, and participate in outdoor painting competitions. She lives in a suburb of St. Paul, MN, paints around her farm house in western Minnesota, and is a member of many art organizations including the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota, Grand Marais Art Colony, and Lake Country Pastel Society, where she served as President until 2013.
